Notes from the workshop: why we choose salvaged Scandinavian oak, and what it tells us about patience.

A piece of oak we are working with this winter was cut from a tree that started growing during the reign of Catherine the Great. You can feel it. The grain is tighter than anything grown in the last century, the weight is denser, the smell is sharper.
Reclaimed and salvaged hardwood is not a sustainability gesture for us — it is a material requirement. New-growth timber simply cannot carry the kind of detail we want to make.
Every Neiro.Farm wood object is hand-finished with a single coat of raw linseed oil. Nothing else. The grain does the rest.
